Stroller Bassinets: When a Flat Surface Is Required
Newborns cannot hold their heads steady or sit upright, so they need a fully flat surface to lie on. A stroller seat that reclines only partway is not safe for a baby under six months.
Know what a newborn actually needs.
- A bassinet attachment or a fully flat seat is required early on
- Car seats in strollers are for short trips, not all-day sleep
- Watch for a flat back and firm support, never a deep slouch
- Transition to the regular seat once the baby sits supported
The flat surface protects a developing airway and spine. Match the seat to the stage, and upgrade only when the baby shows real head control.
